How can we be sure God exists? To some, this may seem like a hard question. But I assure you, as we delve into the word of God and the world, the truth will be revealed in its purest, simplest form. Let us start by acknowledging that our God, in his infinite wisdom and love, has not left us without signs of His existence. We see His divine hand in the intricate beauty of creation, the depth of human emotion, and the profound complexity of the universe.
First, consider the universe. The beauty of a sunrise, the
majesty of a roaring waterfall, the delicate intricacies of a blooming flower.
The psalmist tells us in Psalm 19:1, "The heavens declare the glory of
God; the skies proclaim the work of His hands." How can such beauty and
complexity exist without a divine originator? The intricacies of our world
point to a Creator who is not only vastly intelligent, but also deeply
artistic.
Second, the very existence of human emotion and morality
suggests a divine moral compass. Where does our sense of right and wrong come
from? Why do we feel love, joy, peace, and compassion? These are reflections of
God's character imprinted on our hearts. As stated in Ecclesiastes 3:11,
"He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in
the human heart." Our spirits yearn for what is good, true, and beautiful
because we are made in the very image of God.
Third, the complexity and order of the universe further
attest to God's existence. The way the planets move in their orbits, the laws
of physics that govern our world, the precision required for life to exist —
these are not products of randomness. They point to a Designer, a Mastermind.
As Romans 1:20 states, "For since the creation of the world God’s
invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen,
being understood from what has been made."
But beyond these observable signs, God has also given us His
word, the Bible, a testament of His existence. The Bible is not just a book,
but the living Word of God. The life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ,
as chronicled in the Bible, assures us of a God who loves us so much that He
was willing to make the ultimate sacrifice for us.
Finally, the personal experiences of millions of believers,
myself included, bear testament to God's existence. The peace in trials, the
strength in weakness, the comfort in sadness – these are experiences that go
beyond human understanding and point to a divine, loving God.
So, beloved, when doubts creep in, when the world around you
questions God's existence, remember the signs He has left us. Hold fast to His
word. Keep your eyes and hearts open to His works in the world and in your
life. Remember that faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction
of things not seen, as Hebrews 11:1 tells us. And with that faith, you will
know, beyond the shadow of a doubt, that God exists, and He loves you.
